Soundhealing and a Cancer Diagnosis

Soundhealing and a Cancer Diagnosis (Mathias Elsner-Heyden)

A cancer diagnosis is often life-changing and affects body, mind and soul.  It can trigger anxiety, and private and professional enterprises are in question.  Pain, changes in the body awareness, anxiety and insomnia influence daily life; pain, itching, changes in perception, circulatory issues emphasize these feelings.

It is important for patients to find a modality that counteracts these feelings and symptoms.

The Soundhealing with singing bowls might offer support, the sound and vibration of singing bowls offer relaxation, well-being and trigger positive feelings that in turn support convalescence on the physical, emotional and mental level.

Sound can be introduced target-oriented, to harmonize body, mind and soul. Away from disease the body is brought back in tune.  With awareness, focusing on the healthy, in a trusting therapeutic relationship, it can be observed what is happening in the Now.

Dissonance is given space in this process too.  Goal of this therapy we are offering is to counteract difficulties in day-to-day life. To support relaxation, well-being and positive feelings.

Mindfulness is the Base (Stephanie Schneider)

The sound experience takes place mainly silently. During the sound session, we put an emphasis on the lack of judgement. When the basic relationship is established, the receiver turns its awareness from the outside towards the inside. An inner communication takes place, a listening, or simply a sense of wellbeing being perceived as such. The inner experience is not always peaceful. Sometimes intense fears surface or inner processes take place. Therefore, being mindful of what is happening is ever so important; the giver needs to constantly monitor the vital parameters and the body signals.

When verbal or written communication is no longer possible, we look for signals like breathing, facial expression, body tension, bowel sounds, etc. Understanding and observing the client, acting accordingly and evaluating the next step is happening all at once while playing the bowls. If needed, the giver and the receiver can agree before the treatment starts on a signal indicating the patient wishes to terminate the treatment.
